Forward Deployed Engineer — enterprise AI clients
Onsite/hybrid — San Francisco, CA · New York, NY · Washington, DC · $140,000–$200,000 a year · Full-time
Nilus Talent is a boutique sourcing agency. This is a pool posting: we're sourcing forward deployed engineers for enterprise AI teams at client companies, and one application covers the family of roles we're actively filling — not a single seat.
The work: develop custom applications tailored to customer needs. You'd interact daily with technical customers, translate their unique challenges into impactful solutions, and own end-to-end development across the entire stack — front end, back end, infrastructure. Delivery is iterative: ship high-quality experiments quickly and iterate to meet customer needs, in a dynamic environment with evolving objectives. These are hybrid roles with the ability and interest to travel up to 25% to client sites.
What we look for: 2+ years of relevant software engineering experience; a strong coder with demonstrated proficiency in Python, Java, C++, TypeScript/JavaScript, or similar; a track record of shipping high-quality products and features at scale; familiarity with data structures, storage systems, cloud infrastructure, and front-end frameworks; the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences; and the technical maturity to navigate ambiguous requirements and deliver reliable software. Experience building solutions with LLMs helps but isn't required — readiness is what we check.
Salary: $140,000–$200,000 a year. That's the band across the client teams we source for; where a given role lands in it depends on the client and your level.
The process has 4 steps. Apply below — it takes about 2 minutes, and there's no cover letter. We send you one link to a readiness check that adapts to what you already know. You choose whether to share your results with us. If you finish strong, we put you forward to hiring teams.
We're a sourcing agency, and we'd rather be plain about what that means: completing the readiness check places you in our submission pool. We don't guarantee interviews or placement. The preparation is free and yours to keep, whatever happens.
