Senior Electrical Engineer — robotics & connected-device clients
Onsite/hybrid — Scottsdale, AZ · Boston, MA · Costa Mesa, CA · Dallas, TX · San Francisco, CA · $145,000–$225,000 a year · Full-time
Nilus Talent is a boutique sourcing agency. This is a pool posting: we're sourcing senior electrical engineers for robotics, defense, and connected-device teams at client companies, and one application covers the family of roles we're actively filling — not a single seat.
The work: high-performance, battery-powered, size- and weight-constrained embedded products. You'd serve as the technical owner for complex hardware — define the architecture and select components, lead schematic design, drive PCB floorplanning and layout review with layout engineers, then board bring-up, subsystem validation, characterization, and root-cause debug in the lab with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and spectrum analyzers. Drive system-level tradeoffs across performance, power, thermal, EMI/EMC, reliability, and manufacturability; incorporate DFM on the way to high-quality mass production; partner with NPI on production test; lead design reviews and mentor engineers. These are onsite lab roles at client hub sites.
What we look for: a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a similar engineering discipline (advanced degree preferred); 6+ years of industry electronics design experience; the ability to lead hardware design and development from concept through to mass production release; experience with component selection, schematic capture, high-speed board design, and guiding PCB layout in Altium or Cadence/OrCAD/Allegro; exceptional hands-on proficiency in board bring-up, lab characterization, troubleshooting, and root-cause debug; experience designing for electromagnetic compatibility and debugging products to pass regulatory standards (FCC, CE, IEC); depth in at least one of high-speed interfaces (LPDDR, USB 3.x, MIPI, Ethernet, SerDes), switch-mode power supply design (buck, boost, flyback), or wireless subsystem integration (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Cellular, GNSS); Python for test automation; and effective collaboration with firmware engineering. Some client teams require the ability to obtain and hold a U.S. security clearance.
Salary: $145,000–$225,000 a year. That's the band across the client teams we source for; where a given role lands in it depends on the client, your level, and geography. Equity typically comes on top.
The process has 4 steps. Apply below — it takes about 2 minutes, and there's no cover letter. We send you one link to a readiness check that adapts to what you already know. You choose whether to share your results with us. If you finish strong, we put you forward to hiring teams.
We're a sourcing agency, and we'd rather be plain about what that means: completing the readiness check places you in our submission pool. We don't guarantee interviews or placement. The preparation is free and yours to keep, whatever happens.
